70s Birthday Party Disco Record Centerpiece That Is Oh So Groovy

Let’s travel back in time to the 70s and get oh so groovy with this week’s 70s birthday party disco record centerpiece. The 70s was a great time with gogo boots, afros, tie dye and oh so much more.  So let’s get started. For video instructions, check out the video tutorial at the end of this post!

How To Make a 70s Birthday Party Disco Record Centerpiece

Directions:

STEP 1: Cover the sides of your 12″ foam disc, 4″ foam disc and your foam block with your berry matte 12×12″ scrapbook paper. Adhere the paper to all your foam with hot glue.

Attach Your Foam Block and 12″ Foam Disc Together

STEP 2: Hot glue your 3×4″ foam block to your 12″ foam disc. Now add hot glue to the center part of your 12″ vinyl record, not the vinyl part of your record. Next attach your record to the top of your 12″ foam disc

STEP 3: Apply mod podge to your 4 ” foam disc with your paint brush and then sprinkle on your pink glitter. Fill in any gaps with hot glue and add more pink glitter.

Musical Notes, Wooden Dowels, and Glitter

STEP 4: Take three musical wooden notes and attach them to a 1/4″ inch wood dowel with hot glue. Allow them to dry for 15 minutes. Once they are dry, add mod podge to your wooden notes and wooden dowel. Lastly, sprinkle on your pink glitter to 2 of your musical notes and 1 musical note with silver glitter.

STEP 5: Next apply black paint to another wooden dowel. Let it dry for about 15 to 20 minutes. Now hot glue it to your 45 record. Be sure to put the hot glue on the center of your record and not on the vinyl part of your record.

STEP 6: Attach 24 gauge silver floral wire to a wooden dowel. Curve the silver floral wire into a hook. Use additional floral wire to attach it to your wooden dowel. Add a little dab of hot glue to keep it all in place. Now cover it all with mod podge and silver glitter. Attach your silver ball to the hook

Create Your Jiving 70s Dancer Template

STEP 7: Print out a clip art of a 70s dancer to use as a template. Next cut out the clip art. Tape your dancer clip art to your black scrap book paper with masking tape and then cut around it. Once you are done, remove the clip art and masking tape. Paint a white circle on the earlobes of your paper doll. Now you have your paper doll!

Clip Art Dress and Go Go Boots to the Rescue

STEP 8: Find a clip art dress online and use that as a template for her dress. Take the clip art dress and place it on top of your tie dye paper. Trace around your dress on the backside of the tie dye paper.

STEP 9: To be sure the dress is shown on the front and back of your paper doll, take 2 pieces of tie dye paper and lay them one on top of each other face to face. Cut out both pieces and glue them to the front and back of your paper doll with a gluestick.

Next make her gogo boots by applying mod podge to the bottom part of your paper doll and sprinkle on your pink glitter.

THE FINAL STEP: Put Your 70s Birthday Party Centerpiece Together!

STEP 10: Hot glue your 4″ foam disc using hot glue to your 12″ record. Attach two of your 45 inch records to your 4″ foam disc. Now attach your dancer, disco ball, and musical notes.
