Birdcage Wedding Centerpieces are absolutely adorable and are perfect for a garden wedding, elegant wedding, or even a vintage wedding. The unique appearance of birdcages as wedding centerpieces is a sure way to wow your guests. Also birdcages can have a dual function, they can be a wedding centerpiece or even a wedding card holder. You can spray paint your birdcages to match your wedding colors or add beautiful flowers to dress them up! Did I mention you can add height to your birdcage centerpieces by using a wooden candle holder? I will show you this simple trick below. To save money on this birdcage wedding centerpiece, I purchased the hydrangea flowers and roses from the Dollar Tree. You can get 6-stem hydrangea bushes and 7-stem rose bushes for just $1. So let’s get started! For video instructions, please check out the video tutorial below!

Directions:

STEP 1: The first step is to spray paint the brown chicken wire birdcage and the round wood candle holder white. Allow both pieces to dry. After both pieces are dry, place E6000 on the rim of the wood candleholder, and then attach the candle holder to the birdcage. This adds some height to the birdcage centerpiece.

Trim Down the Styrofoam Cone

STEP 2: For a little extra height of the birdcage, hold the handle upright, and then apply hot glue to keep it in an upright position. Next trim down your styrofoam cone about an inch to ensure it fits inside the birdcage. Your flowers and greenery will be attached to the styrofoam cone.

STEP 3: Cover the styrofoam cone with a green ivy bush. You will do this by wrapping the green ivy bush around the styrofoam cone.  Secure the green ivy bush to the cone using floral pins.

Attach Lavendar Hydrangeas

STEP 4: Separate two of the lavendar hydrangea head stems. Use an extra long toothpick to poke a hole in the styrofoam cone. Then insert the hydrangea stems that you separated. Once all the hydrangea stems are attached, place the cone in the birdcage. This is to make sure you like the look of the flower placements and to ensure the flowers don’t have a ‘crushed’ appearance.

Add Additional Flowers

STEP 5: Remove the styrofaom cone from the birdcage. Pre-poke a hole in the styrofoam cone prior to inserting the flowers. Then attach 1-3 ranunculus picks in yellow, beauty (pink), and purple to the cone. Fill in the empty spaces with pink tea roses.

Hot Glue the Styrofoam Cone Inside the Birdcage

STEP 6: Place the styrofoam cone in the birdcage once again to make sure you are happy with the flower placements. Once you are happy with the placement of the flowers, add a liberal amount of hot glue to the bottom of the cone so the cone stays in place. Then place the cone in the center of the birdcage. Allow it to dry for 30 minutes.
