If you are a superhero fanatic or want a unique wedding centerpiece, this wedding centerpiece is just what you need. This week’s project request came from a soon-to-be bride who is having a ‘Nerdy-Chic Wedding.’ Her and her fiancé LOVE comic books and superheros and wanted to find a way to incorporate these aspects into their wedding. See how ‘The Hulk’ brings their wedding centerpiece together. Also I provided an alternative for them to alternate wedding centerpieces throughout the wedding reception. I used a $1 Vase, $1 succulents, $1 gel beads, and other supplies from the Dollar Tree to save money on the wedding centerpieces. The items are linked below in the supply list. So let’s get started! How to Make a Nerdy Chic Unique Wedding Centerpiece
Directions:
STEP 1: The first step is to create the base by using two different types of foam. The first foam you will need is a 4 X 8 inch cake foam. This foam is what is used to make a faux cake. The other foam you will use is a 5 X 1 inch foam disc. Cut the glitter scrapbook paper in strips and hot glue it to the perimeter of the cake foam and the foam disc.
Tip: In this tutorial, I am using hot glue to glue the glitter scrapbook paper to the cake foam and foam disc. However, I strongly recommend using elmers glue or mod podge for cleaner neater seams.
Hot Glue The Hulk to the Cake Foam
STEP 2: Apply high-heat hot glue to the feet of The Hulk figurine and then place it on top of the cake foam. Next attach 12-14 blue roses, 2-4 small succulents, and 3-5 cherry blossom flowers to the cake foam. Fill in the empty spaces with roses.
Now It’s Time To Add The Top Tier
STEP 3: Raise ‘The Hulk’s’ arms upward. Next place hot glue on ‘The Hulk’s fists and then attach the foam disc. Attach 3 long stem tealight candle holders to the foam disc with hot glue. Also attach 8-10 roses, 2-4 small succulents, and 2-4 cherry blossom flowers.
Tip: Be sure the figurine that you choose has adjustable arms, if not you will be unable to perform this step.
The Alternative Wedding Centerpiece
STEP 4: An alternative to this wedding centerpiece would be to add a $1 Dollar Tree 9 inch vase instead of a hulk figurine on the cake foam. Next layer gel water beads and then cream colored pearls in the vase until you are about a little over halfway up the vase. Then add water to the vase.
The Final Step
STEP 5: Apply high-heat hot glue to the bottom of a Waterproof LED Tealight Candle. Attach the LED Tealight Candle to the bottom of the foam disc. Once you add the LED Tealight Candle, let it dry for 30 minutes. Lastly, place hot glue along the rim of the vase and then attach the 5 inch foam disc topper.
