Bohemian Wedding Backdrop

This week like every other week, I was challenged to create something beautiful for a wedding on a budget. This stunning circle of love bohemian wedding backdrop was created for $173.00 versus the $500.00 our lovely community member and soon to bride Jazmine was quoted. Although, this seemed to be an impossible task, I was able to pull it off using a $24 metal arch frame, chicken wire, and garland. Ready to see how I did it? Let’s get started! For video instructions, please check out the video tutorial below!

How To Make a DIY Bohemian Wedding Backdrop

Directions:

STEP 1: The first step is to setup the 7.5 ft lightweight metal arch. Next measure the galvanized chicken wire from one end to the next of the arch. This is to ensure you have the correct length. Then cut the wire the width and the length of the arch. The length will be about 9 feet to 9.5 feet. Wrap the ends of the chicken wire to the arch and secure it with green chenille stems. I chose to use green chenille stems so it blends in with the garland I will use. Watch the video tutorial above to see this step.

Attach the 6 Ft Ivy Garland to the Chicken Wire

STEP 2: Attach the 6 foot long ivy garland to the chicken wire with the same green chenille stems you used in Step 1. Thread the chenille stems through the garland loops. Then attach it to the chicken wire twisting the cheille stem around the chicken wire. The tighter you twist the chenille stem the tighter it will be on the chicken wire. Vice versa if you twist it looser.

Add 6 Ft Ivy Garland to the Metal Arch

STEP 3: Next attach the same 6 foot ivy garland from step 2 to the metal arch. Start in the middle so that it is evenly spread on both sides. Use chenille stems to secure it. Add three more 6 ft ivy garlands to the bottom chicken wire and 1 additional ivy garland to the backside of the arch, mirroring the front. You can already see the circle coming to shape.

Attach the Desmodium Garland

STEP 4:  Attach desmodium garland to the chicken wire and the top of the metal arch. Once attached, be sure to stretch and fluff the desmodium garland to your desired fullness. Now take 3-5 fern stems and attach them all together with a chenille stem and then attach them in opposite corners on the front of the frame and the back of the frame. Lastly, fill in any empty spaces with the ivy garland.

THE FINAL STEPS!

STEP 5:  To cover up the bottom of the metal frame, attach three of the white chiffon table runners together and twist a white chenille stem at the top of them to hold them together. Use an additonal white chenille stem to attach the table runners to the metal arch. Repeat this step for the other side of the metal arch.
